Wandering the Web

There is so much world music being recorded every year that it can be hard to keep up with it all. About.com's Megan Romer is here to help with a list of the year's best World Music CDs. You'll find Genticorum, Yasmin Levy, Tinariwen, Seun Kuti, Kiran Ahluwalia and other stellar performers.

Earlier this year, a new website was launched to honor and bring some attention to the 'unsung heroes of rock and roll' who, for one reason or another, never got the credit they deserve. At Rock and Roll Joe you can read bios and see videos, as well as nominate your own Joe.

Books are a great way to share your own loves with your children. Two children's books about passing on music from one generation to the next were featured earlier this year in an article in the New York Times. I read the first of the two, "Passing the Music Down" to my 4 year old recently and loved the simple telling of how music is shared in the old-timey community.
