For the second straight year, the Ohio Arts Council and Cityfolk are presenting the Ohio Heritage Stage at the Ohio State Fair in Columbus. Rick Good and Friends, featuring the 2010 Ohio Heritage Fellowship awardee and a group of his most simpatico musical collaborators Sharon Leahy, Ben Cooper, Israel Parker and Paul Kovac, will be part of an afternoon of music that will extend from 4:30 to 9:00 PM on Saturday July 31 .
The stage will also include the Antioch Chorale Singers, a bright beacon for the deep tradition of African-American gospel music based at the Antioch Baptist Church in Cleveland. Another Cleveland ensemble, the magnificent folk ensemble Harmonia will also perform. Styled after turn of the century East-European Gypsy bands, their music mines Eastern European cultures reflecting Hungarian, Slovak, Ukrainian, Romanian and Croatian traditions. Over the years their Cityfolk Festival performances have been true highights of the summer event.
