There’s just something about the sound of a Hammond B-3 organ and the Mike LeDonne Quartet features the mighty Hammond in a distinctively funky fusion of hard-bop and the soul-jazz organ tradition that “simply grooves hard all the way to the final chord” (All About Jazz). Channeling the spirit of such past jazz organ masters as Jimmy Smith, Charles Earland and Don Patterson, LeDonne is equally known in the jazz world for his skills as a pianist. LeDonne will perform with tenor saxophonist Eric Alexander, guitarist Paul Bollenback and drummer Joe Farnsworth on Saturday, July 3.
