The Red Stick Ramblers, performing a highly entertaining fusion of Cajun fiddle tunes, western swing, zydeco, honky-tonk country and traditional jazz, offers up “a potent brew that swings so hard that it’s almost sick, and rocks like crazy” (New Orleans Times-Picayune). Based in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, the freewheeling young quintet has ridden the twin fiddles of Kevin Wimmer and Linzay Young (also the band’s leader and lead singer) to roots music stardom, especially on the Gulf Coast, on the strength of non-stop touring (some 200 dates each year) and rollicking, high-energy live performances. They'll be at the Cityfolk Festival on Sunday.
